THE WHO BY NUMBERS – COVER (1975) (Cover Design: John Entwistle) Never a student of art, John Entwistle, bassist and founding member of The Who, one-offed this connect-the-dots cover art with “idle hands” almost exclusively in mind. Proud of the effort, but more about it’s cost, he once stated that his album cover cost 16 pounds (while the Pete Townsend designed Quadrophenia cover cost 16,000 pounds). This particular artifact did not go untouched, as Mr. Entwistle’s trousers are mostly complete, with the initial “dot” starting at his crotch.
